Stream Girls Pissing on Girls Pissing’s - 'Scrying in Infirmary Architecture'

Don’t even attempt to Google search these Kiwis.

Ok so forget about the name for a moment (and that we are ‘streaming’ their new album), Girls Pissing On Girls Pissing are one of New Zealand’s more interesting bands of the last few years.

“Do it on your own terms” is often code for “so weird and iconoclastic that no one else wants to work with you”, but with the genre defying Auckland outfit you get the feeling that these guys and gals genuinely don’t give a flying fuck with what is expected.

They’ve released a split with an equally obscure Belgian band and released a 7” that had a B-side that was unplayable. They are into scrying.

Their upcoming album Scrying in Infirmary Architecture, has been two years in the making and like 2013’s Eeling will be accompanied by a book. It’s a record that will appeal both to the Forced Exposure/Volcanic Tongue crowd and the ‘hanging out in the forest with animal furs’ crowd.

Listen to the album below and read a quick chat we had with the band’s Casey Latimer.

Noisey: So to 'scry' is to foretell the future often by looking into a crystal ball. What does the future hold? Hope or dread?
Casey Latimer: To scry or use the method of scrying, further than just divination, is any process that allows one to use the subconscious to communicate with higher aspects of the psyche. Scrying felt like an appropriate title more to illustrate that the art and music manifested through such approaches and methodology. I guess there is a sense of foreboding and the future. It’s pretty dire. Hope and faith need to be destroyed for certainty and science.

The album art work is amazing.
Once again we are releasing the album with a book of artworks done by Alex, Catherine and myself. The cover image depicts the whore of Babylon upon the great beast in some form of the nativity/birth of the universe.

Is "A Fraud Abroad” based on anyone or any particular experience?
A fraud abroad is about disingenuous morons who travel around the world with their heads up there asses.

"Pollen Moon" is creepy and ominous.
“Pollen Moon” arose from an experience in an altered state. much as described in the lyrics. In one sense its a crude painting of a fucking bleak dream. In another it is a hymn to Lilith. It seems to be a warning about the dangers of being ignorant in the astral and losing ones sanity crossing the abyss.

'Scrying in Infirmary Architecture' is available Sept 4 through Muzai Records.
