Listen to A New Tonstartssbandht Track Taken From a Forthcoming Split With Hot & Cold

On the eve of their first Australian and New Zealand tour the White brothers share a track.

Prodigious musical brothers Andy and Edwin White are from Orlando, Florida. Andy is Mac DeMarco’s new guitarist but together they perform as Tonstartssbandht (pronounced tahn-starts-bandit), and produce psychedelic boogie jam rock.

They’ve teamed up with another brother duo Hot & Cold for the release of a split 7” ahead of their Australian and New Zealand tour this Christmas.

Listen to "Hom Hung Our Garden" one of the tracks from the record below.

Even though Florida is fucking crazy (the Huffington Post has it’s own “Weird Florida” section) the brothers are both proud of being from the Sunshine State.

Sadly, as Andy points out, lot of the stories coming out of Florida involve people suffering from mental illness, homelessness, and substance abuse. Problems that are often overshadowed by the media’s coverage of their bizarre actions.

Andy White: I still check the Orlando Sentinel frequently for local news. It's not exactly a beacon of critical, investigative journalism and the website is honestly a clusterfuck of pay per click ads, but it's a place where I can see reports on what's changing (or staying the same) in my hometown. Sad to say these days I check the obits pretty often.

I used to marvel at those "News out of Florida" or Florida Man articles, but I had to stop. I began to think more about the fact that most of those stories are police reports of some insanely fucked up person. Usually pretty poor, living an insane, fucked up life because Florida has crazy inequality issues and the people who suffer from it the most live on a plane of reality that the rest of us can’t comprehend, so we laugh at them while they're being arrested. A lot of those stories are fucking insane, but I just can't find them amusing these days.

Edwin M. White: Florida's fucking great. I was born there in 1987 and left in 2005. It's the final frontier, it's on the East Coast and it's beautiful. The vibes are true. Floridian's know. I love you all.

The split released on Genjing Records is available on tour after December 18 and in stores in China, Australia and the US after Christmas.
