Introducing Oceaán and the Shivery R&B of "Veritas"

Click, boom, and a voice that'll make you go, "Oooo."

Do you hear those beats? They're shivering like a naked body coming out wet in the night air. What about the way the synths phase in and out so that you feel disorientated, like you're walking the world at a 45 degree angle? Then the man known as Oceaán enters the fray (real name: Oliver Cean; see what he did there?), with vocals that are soulful and supple, and mulitiply breathlessly, to create a nu-R&B record that's both liquidy and stop-start-stuttery-cool.

"Veritas" is just one track lifted from the Manchester-via-Brussels producer's forthcoming new EP, The Grip, which is out on 11.17, via Chess Club Records in the UK and B3SCI in the States. Given the Chess Club connection it's no surprise that this is quality: the tastemaker label have released early singles by MS MR, Wolf Alice, MØ, Swim Deep, and erm, Mumford and Sons.

Anyway, this latest track from Oceaán is a drop in the proverbial… ocean (oh dear), so we recommend listening to more of his stuff here. He's also performing live, but not till next year, and you'll have to fly to the UK to see him. Start saving.
