Don't Miss Jansport Bonfire Sessions' Big Summer Send-Off in Brooklyn with Parkay Quarts, Guards, and Fletcher C Johnson

Helping us celebrate the changing of the seasons are a local trio of red-hot acts, all of whom will provide just the right shades of rock and roll to greet the fall...and if summer wants to hang around longer after the show, that’s fine, too.

Don’t miss out on our big send-off to summer with the next show in the Jansport Bonfire Sessions event series, as we ride into Brooklyn’s Havemeyer Park on 9/21. Helping us celebrate the changing of the seasons are a local trio of red-hot acts, DIIV, Guards, and Fletcher C Johnson, all of whom will provide just the right shades of rock and roll to greet the fall…and if summer wants to hang around longer after the show, that’s fine, too. UPDATE: Parkay Quarts have replaced DIIV.

Parkay Quarts (fka Parquet Courts) are proof that—despite what your friend wearing the snap back tells you—guitars are still cool. The Brooklyn-based band formed back in 2010, slowly building a buzzy following that then culminated in their fiery 2012 debut, Light Up Gold. The record, which caught critical acclaim from Important Music Publications across the board, is a collection of skuzzed out garage rock that sounds a bit like that time you got knocked over at a sweaty DIY show and tasted the concrete (but you liked it). Their music represents the budding sound emerging from the cracks of the city, and taking the stage in their home borough will feel like a homecoming dance.

Guards are dreamy, shimmering, and all-around intoxicating. The New York outfit will bring their sinewy melodies and ethereal vocalizations home to Kings County, looking to transfix the park’s audience with guitars that swell emotively and forceful percussions. An open sky is the perfect recipient for their tunes, which will inspire both dancing and bleary-eyed smiles in equal measure.

Fletcher C. Johnson creates perfect music to end your summer on a high note. California-influenced with that gritty NYC touch, Johnson will throw distortion in your face one second before crooning you with his unique voice the next. You’re guaranteed to sway your hips to his beach-blasted pop rock while basking in the last moments of the warmest season.

The event is 21+ and you have to RSVP here to attend. You'll receive an email update with details on transportation and where you'll need to be to get your wristband to the event. Remember, an RSVP doesn't guarantee admission, so you'll need to arrive early to ensure your spot at the show. See you there!
