Angie’s ‘Free Agent’ Takes You on A Purposeful Trip

The talented Sydney songwriter likens her second album to the anger and confusion that comes with sleeping through your alarm.

Angie's 2013 debut solo album Turning was a dark, dense and at times intense listen. In contrast the sparse “Breathing in Blue” which opens Free Agent is like ocean spray to the face.

The talented Sydney songwriter who has done time in Circle Pit, Southern Comfort, GLOSS and Straight Arrows wrote Free Agent while journeying through France and Brazil, and like the album title suggests explores the intimate and personal.

Comprised of rock songs, improvised instrumentals and arrangements that consist soley of sparse vocals and organ, Free Agent (that you can stream below) is an open and honest album. One that Angie describes as a purposeful trip.

“Free Agent is a cool record. It’s varied, it's reflective, and subjective, it’s in motion yet also very still. It's a cold shower but leaves your skin hot. It’s a rain you didn't expect. It’s a memory of a future. It’s perfect and unfinished. It’s about you, and me despite the fact we've never met. It's anonymous, estranged, yet so overly friendly you feel uncomfortable. It’s a sudden shake of periphery. It’s a blur between your eyes. A cough coming from an unknown host. A new interpretation of old rock. An international breeze. A fine wine left in the sun. A mistake cemented. A beautiful moment that lasts forever. The anger and confusion of sleeping through your alarm.”
