Angie’s Album 'Turning' Isn’t Out But You Can Hear It Here

We're premiering Angie's debut album Turning. Obviously we fully expect for you to pay for it eventually, but try before you buy right here.

You might already know Angela Garrick from her years playing and recording in bands, lending her bass skills to Circle Pit, Southern Comfort, Ruined Fortune, and Straight Arrows. Despite her already impressive call sheet she’s trying a different direction, and adopting a new name. Under the moniker Angie she has released Turning, and we’re feeling pretty lucky to be premiering it.

Turning is the first time she’s worked alone; she described the process as an, “exercise in patience, repetition and swift decision making”. She might have stepped out of her comfort zone, but away from the communal environment she was comfortable with she could experiment with the possibilities for guitar and her own shoegaze vocals.

Angie has described her droning album with its duelling guitars as sad; which is somewhat surprising considering how infectious is it. In Turning she lends a new voice to an increasingly Australian sound, and we couldn’t be happier to have her at the party.

Check it out for yourself.

Turning is available 25 October through Rice is Nice.
