Herber Martinez, a Houston punk who was involved in local bands the Curb Biters and Licker has been accused of beheading a cat.

According to ABC13, the 23-year-old Martinez is charged with cruelty to livestock animals. Court documents allege Martinez was caught after he was seen on video hanging the dead cat in a Houston train.

Martinez claims he found the cat dead in a backpack in a fast food restaurant dumpster. But according to court records Martinez couldn't explain the amount of blood on his clothes or the scratches on his body.

Martinez, who is known to have a history of drug problems, was active in the Houston punk scene.

Describing themselves as pogo punk, the Curb Biters released a demo in 2013 while Licker, a band responsible for the track “Kill the PC Punk Copper”, released a split flexi 7” with Aborticidio in early 2015.

Martinez also did some vocals with Houston band the Secret Prostitutes for their 2012 split with the Real Energy. But the Secret Prostitutes have been quick to distance themselves from Martinez and the accusations against him.

“I am in disbelief. He was always a great friend to me and the band, but there is no excusing this or looking past it,” guitarist Josh Wolf told Noisey. “I never thought he would be capable of something like this, but drugs change people, and he has a bad drug problem.”
