Old Dominion Knocks off Murray State with Crazy Buzzer Beater

Old Dominion advanced to the NIT Semifinals in New York City with a crazy buzzer beater over Murray State.

Last night in the NIT, Old Dominion provided a legitimate holy shit! moment with a half-court buzzer beater to beat Murray State. As if losing on an insane buzzer beater weren't bad enough, the score was only tied at 69-69 because Murray State hit a huge three-pointer just seconds before.

The Racers were down by as many as four points inside the final 30 seconds and through their own foul shooting ineptitude (coupled with Old Dominion's) they were able to chip one whole point off the lead to make it a one possession game with 13 seconds to go. With 3.5 seconds left, Jeffery Moss hit a huge three to tie and, theoretically, send it to overtime. But 3.5 seconds turned out to be the perfect amount of time remaining for a heartbreaking finish. Trey Freeman got the ball, crossed midcourt, and as soon as he hit the NIT logo on the other side, let fly a running a jumper that banked in off the glass.

It sent the home crowd into hysterics and made old men jump and hug with reckless abandon. Old Dominion will head to New York City and Madison Square Garden for the NIT semifinals next week.
