New Video: Liturgy: "Returner"

You’ll probably feel a little woozy if you make it through all four minutes of Liturgy’s “Returner.” Or you might have a seizure. This mind-scrambling visual trip will leave you reeling long after the nausea subsides. The opening scene begins innocently enough; cathedral bells toll as two hooded druids merge into each other as if they were playing with the effects tabs on PhotoBooth. Cut to rapidly spliced imagery of stained glass and statues, while frontman Hunter Hunt-Hendrix screams sultrily into the mic. Normal laws of perspective give way to kaleidoscopic rainbows and bizarre mirror images. As the abstract beat structures speed up relentlessly, you start to feel like you’re tripping—while on a rollercoaster full of strobe lights.
