Listen to FOXTROTT's Take on Missy Elliott in a New Remix

This is the first single from the Montreal synth-artist's upcoming remix tape.

FOXTROTT’s debut LP, A Taller Us, isn’t quite ready yet, but one woman extravaganza Marie-Helene Delorme has embarked on a series of remixes to pass the time. Up first is a hot take on Missy Elliott’s 2001 jam, “4 My People.” It’s percussively plentiful from start to finish, with the vocals playfully chopped up and resewn. Delorme, who released the remix shortly after this year’s glorious Missy Elliott comeback—what some may know as the Super Bowl—calls Missy “one of the greatest and a true pioneer.”

“I make electronic music because of the total freedom of frequencies, tones, colors and feel that you can achieve with it,” she says. “You can pick the exact vibrations you need to carry an emotion or message.” More remixes are en route and will soon drop online as a mixtape.

A Taller Us will be out this spring.
