Creators Remix Roundup: Matthew Herbert, Brodinski, And Neon Indian

Matthew Herbert goes goth, Brodinski takes on Miike Snow, and Emil & Friends cover Neon Indian.

Our Creators are a talented and prolific bunch, and our inbox is always overflowing with alerts of new remixes and mashups from the incredible DJs and producers in our line-up. We just couldn't keep these fresh new tunes to ourselves because, after all, filesharing is caring. Here are our top picks from the past week.

Soap&Skin: “Big Hand Nails Down” (Matthew Herbert remix)

If we didn’t know any better, we’d believe Austrian artist Anja Plaschg, aka Soap&Skin, was a real life vampire. “Big Hand Nails Down” sounds like it could be on the soundtrack to a haunted house (a classy, glam one at that), with its deep, low piano notes and static effects. Matthew Herbert zombifies the track, giving it layers of vocal reverberation and a touch of gothic beautification that miraculously manages to make this track more uplifting.

Miike Snow: “The Wave” (Brodinski remix)

Brodinski transforms Miike Snow‘s “The Wave,” off their recent LP Happy To You, taking it from Wyatt-classic to a club-ified banger that can’t help but get your body moving. In true Brodinski style, he cuts in stammering effects, grinding bass, and steady hand claps to hold the pacing.

Emil & Friends: “Polish Girl” Neon Indian cover)

All ties aside (because we did produce the music video), we’re kind of embarrassed to admit how many times we played Neon Indian’s “Polish Girl” on repeat when it came out last fall. Emil & Friends keep pretty true to the original, but the real magic is hearing it sung by a female vocalist. Dudes, get ready to swoon.
