Don't Try to Figure Out Ambassadeurs. It'll Take You "Forever."

Check the title track from the ever-changing Brighton producer's new EP.

What do Danny Brown, Machinedrum, and ODESZA have in common? The answer is Mark Dobson. The Brighton-based producer, better known as Ambassadeurs, has toured with all of them. It may seem like an angular mish-mash of acts to throw your lot in with, but in listening to Ambassadeurs' upcoming Forever EP on Lost Tribe, you can see how it works. His tunes, though indeed rangy, are often uptempo-downtempo tunes with a taste for complicated rhythms and some urban headiness swirling about an unabashed penchant for uplifting melody.

"Forever," the title track from his forthcoming EP is laid-back and contemplative, with an easygoing pop sensibility running through proceedings. It sounds like ODESZA's chilled out older brother who's stopped trying to panty-drop every sorority girl in the room with each track he writes. Apt as that pithy analysis may sound at first glance, it's not really a fair statement. Ambassadeurs is a nimble producer, he's constantly dipping in and out of aesthetics with ease since before "M.O.P.E" announced him to the world at large with that quintessentially broken hip hop beat in 2012

Consider this: Ambassadeurs has more than twice as many Soundcloud followers as Facebook fans. That means something. Firstly, that he makes music for people who care about music. Secondly, you should probably like him on Facebook now.
