Dante Leon's "The Sky" Is a Good Version of the Corny Guitar-Playing Friend

The Toronto singer/producer gives us another taste of his immense musical versatility on a dramatic ode to being chill.

Dante Leon isn't really a rapper, isn't really a singer, isn't really a producer. The Toronto artist occupies all three spaces, making his many genre about-faces feel natural. His latest single, "The Sky," is ostensibly an R&B track, powered by one of those flamenco-ish acoustic guitar chord progressions that ooze tension. Despite the dramatic setting, Leon just wants to get high, both literally and metaphorically. You know that classic archetype of the fakedeep bro who plays guitar when no one asks him to? This song is kind of like that, but if the dude was actually good at songwriting and didn't just play Incubus' "Drive" for no reason. Listen to "The Sky" below.
