Muslim Archibald Finalist Abdul Abdullah Throws Your Prejudice Back at You

Meet the Perth artist rewriting prejudice.

Abdul Abdullah is a seventh generation Australian. But growing up Muslim, this country always told him he was the bad guy. Our media, our immigration policies, and a silent yet constant war of body language: all that stuff sent a message.

Today, four-time Archibald Prize finalist Abdul Abdullah takes that message and returns it to sender. As he told us, "I think racism, directed towards the Muslim community in Australia has really ramped up. I'm just taking things that already exist, and putting it back out there."

Here, he discusses his politically-charged work, which takes the shape of photographs, paintings, installations, and performances. And he hopes you find yourself a bit uncomfortable.
