These Are My Favorite Remixes Of The New Beyoncé Album

The Queen demands it!

You knew this was going to happen. It's been foretold since Beyoncé's secret album made the Interwebs throw a collective hissy fit last month. And the remixes are rolling in—not only because it's the biggest album of this fresh-faced 2014, but because she's Queen Bey, and her presence demands it.

The album is plenty electronic already—it doesn't really need a bunch of remixes to bring it into our world. It's full of 808 drums and quirky synths and breaks down genre walls more gleefully than your favorite experimental artist. Boots, the main producer of an album full of singular talent, sees it through twists and turns that eschew traditional pop structures or well-defined beat patterns. Each song develops at the pace it sees fit, often veering into unexpected territories, shrugging off the dominant R&B and rap tropes of 2014.

In this most frigid of seasons, I am thankful for the remixes that carried Beyoncé confidently onto the dancefloor, or dragged the record even further into the outer limits of weird. And there's already a long litany of bootlegs and edits out there, so I thought I'd round some of some of my favorites into a neat little list. Most of them are variations of "Drunk In Love," but not all. And bear in mind: there's a lot more unheard heat out there than what's posted here, because Soundcloud has been taking remixes down left and right like it's a dance. So dig in, and let me know if I missed your favorite:

DJ Tameil - "Drunk In Love"

As you might have guessed, there were more Jersey club remixes out there than anything. So I'm going to go ahead and get that out of the way right off the bat. I decided to pick one from an OG of the scene, Tameil. Something died inside of you if you don't want to dance to this.

Jay R Neutron - BEYONCÉ Megamix

Neutron couldn't stick to remixing just once track, and instead remade the entire album for the ballroom crowd. It's a few minutes shy of an hour long!

Melo X - Yoncé X

Brooklyn's

Melo X

also couldn't stop with one remix, and he made a whole EP of 'em. He keeps things in the realm of R&B for a couple songs, before taking things a bit more upbeat, finally settling for soulful boom bappery.

Jubilee King Bee - "Blow"

Everyone loves 90s R&B don't they? OK, maybe not everyone, but it's certainly trendy at the moment. Florida's Jubilee brings a lot of vibes from that era into his bouncy rendition. Shouldn't be hard to find people who like this one.

DJ Roc - "Drunk In Love"

The Chi's DJ Roc, the one and only Crack Capone, injects "Drunk" drunk with aggressive masculine energy. This is one for the footwork battles—a narrow-eyed focus on the opponent in the circle. The track really finds itself at 1:35.

Gant Man - "Drunk In Love"

Speaking of juke remixes, I though Gant Man deserved special mention here. In addition to this Drunk version (and probably other Bey refixes) he dropped an

official remix

of Beyonce's "Check On It" for the single back in 2006.

Stamusic - "Blue"

This one just makes me feel good.

DJ Steel - "Drunk In Love"

Steel brings us a big, mean Bmore version as part of a 13-track series of remixes.

Dan MusicMaker - "Drunk In Love"

After listening to a couple hours' worth of "Drunk In Love" remixes, you start getting desperate for something new. Dan the Man came through for me when I needed it. Although he doesn't chop her vocals all that much, he alters them and lays them on top of a minimalist, bleepy beat.

EZHi - "Haunted"

Much like

dubstep remixes

, trap remixes of Beyonce are mostly unnecessary. So when I tell you I'm enjoying this chill trapstep refix, I want you to bear with me. It's got some super emotive, simple melodies that cycle through a series of synths and pianos over a sparse but engaging beat. And the video it's paired with is a notch of high-class-creepiness above Bey's.
