The Noisey Guide To Rappers Who Talked Shit And Got Checked

Rappers who talk smack, get smacked!

Contrary to popular belief, money doesn’t automatically allow a rapper to do and say whatever the fuck they feel like. Despite the ever declining moral compass of modern day rappers, there are a few things they do not get a pass for; pretending to be harder than they are is NOT one of them. Anyway, now the dust has settled on another of Rick "former correctional officer" Ross’ gaffes, it reminded me of a few more rappers whose reckless talk got them into some serious (read: funny) trouble.

ROOOOZAY

It all started off so harmlessly. When Ricky released the cover art for his “Black Mitzvah” mixtape back in October, which showed the chunky rapper’s head and shoulders decorated by a fur trim plastered on a six-pointed star which most people know is the ultimate symbol of Jewishness. Well, he obviously didn’t realise it was the main symbol for Chi Town’s premiere gang – The Gangster Disciples (kind of awkward really, considering his track "B.M.F" pays homage to G.D co-founder Larry Hoover). It appears the G.D’s did not appreciate Ross plastering the Star of David their emblem all over his mixtape visuals and set off a whole barrage of threats from all over the country via YouTube.

Ricky maintained a dignified silence for a while. That was until his shows in the southern state of North Carolina got cancelled and the rumor mill went into overdrive citing the video threats as the cause of Ross’ sudden change of heart, delivering a considerable blow to his manhood. Ross then felt compelled to respond to the gossip by way of a particularly cringe worthy interview. Over eleven minutes of stuttering, repetition and outlandish statements, where he ranted about a chinchilla coat, mumbled something about apple pie, claimed he tried to choke rapper Young Jeezy and threatened to smack 50 Cent. Like, I’m pretty sure a round two with 50 Cent isn’t something Rozay needs in his life. Somebody in Ross’ camp needs to tell him to chill the fuck out.

Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne is forever getting checked for false flagging. Ever since a scrawny, pubescent looking Weezy repped the blue back in the, even 90s Crip O.G Snoop felt the need to weigh in on the facade.

But fast forward a decade and Weezy's a fully blown Blood… AWKWARD. Apparently nobody told Weezy it’s a lifestyle not a pick'n'mix assortment. Anyway, a few years back during a vacation to Compton, real Bloods decided to pay him a visit, including rap's "stick up kid" 40 Glocc. The guys taunted Weezy and even banged on the outside of his truck like cartoon bullies, demanding that he come out or even just crack a window open. Weezy didn’t fancy getting fucked up that day and locked himself inside his car, but it didn’t stop Tunechi waving the red flag though, instead choosing to beef up his security rather than his IQ.

Jim Jones

Another incident in the eversafe L.A. – Dipset member Jim Jones got a little too chilled out on the Hennessy when he hit the stage. Jimmy (who loves trouble and has been jumped more times than a playground skip-rope) made the indefensible error of casually hollering Blood call “Soo Woop” at a live music venue in Cali. The call set off a gang fight in the venue, because duh, but Jimmy was seen rather sheepishly being ushered off the stage to safety like an extra lame Princess Peach. They don’t play in Cali Capo, Mr Jones.

Plies

“Becky” rapper Plies’ brush with gangsterdom came to a head when he hid in the toilets from some bigger boys who visited the set of one of his videos. Seriously. Seeing as Plies’ non-radio friendly tracks were like a crash course on how to be a rugged, crack shotting stone cold killa the incident kind of killed his career forever. But that's not what was crazy. Poor old Plies got outed, but got outed by none other than Hollywood actor, cute as a button, could take home to ya' mother R&B crooner, Jamie Foxx. ZING!

Charles Hamilton

Charles Hamilton getting punched in the face by a girl. The End.
