Black Lips/Cerebral Ballzy Tour Diary 008: BURN THE CORPSE

Stony the tour mouse finally decides she's had enough of the touring life and passes away quietly in her cage. We make a funeral pyre for her in the back lot of The Detroit Bar, with a soundtrack by Candlemass.

We go to a BBQ party thrown by Vestal before the show.

There's an ad for Vestal starring none other than Ian from The Black Lips hanging in The Detroit Bar.

The Detroit Bar show is a sweaty clusterfuck with nervous bouncers and a really friendly owner. During the crush of bodies, I end up with a girl's knee firmly embedded in my crotch for several songs. She apologizes profusely after the show.

Multiple people remark that they haven't seen a punk band tear it up like Ballzy in a long time.

Literally kissing a bouncer's ass (and hoping he doesn't notice).

It turns out Jason is leading a double life. When he's not playing with Cerebral Ballzy, he tours under the name "Bob Schneider."

We stay at the Volcom house. It has a crazy pool and backyard that used to have tons of great skate ramps (including a halfpipe in a tree) until the landlord killed them off. I sleep in the spider-infested pool house.

Some creepy guy who no one knew had been lurking at the party all night. He then laid down on the couch with Cole. After getting chased off he laid down next to one of the Personal And The Pizzas guys sleeping on the floor and tried to squeeze into his sleeping bag with him. In the morning he was gone, but someone had tagged the outside of the house with a shitty "lvr boy 87."
