Do you ever get the feeling that some musicians don't put much effort into their band's name? They need to have some title, so they think up a couple of nouns and adjectives and slap them together. I guess it doesn't really matter all that much what a band is called, but I think I like and can appreciate a band and their tunes much more when their name is one that relates to what they create and represents what they're about. So with all of that being said, I don't think a more accurate and perfect band name for the group Young Magic could exist. Not only are band members Isaac Emmanuel, Melati Malay, and Michael Italia young and magical, but their music gives off the same vibes.
These guys are totally hitting the spot right now with their upbeat tracks and unintelligible lyrics and noises. Okay sure, that makes it a bit difficult to sing along to, but we're dancing so hard, it doesn't even matter. We're really stoked to premiere their latest tape flip of their track "You With Air," about which Emmanuel said, "[It's] a re-cut of this joint. A product of sporadic insomnia, up-late messing around, a quick sketch one smokey night back in the city. Just playing around with some delays and tape loops, flipped and mashed, and this popped out the other end..." Sounds dope, right? Take a listen below.
We know you're gonna have this on repeat all night, and we know you'll probably only have one thing on your mind: "I wanna see these guys live!" Well we want you to as well, and that's why we're giving away free passes to their show with fellow Aussie act Tame Impala at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on August 7th.
