Listen to the Yellow Ostrich's "Shades," the First Single Off of Their Upcoming Album

Their "Cosmos" album is set for a February release.

Yellow Ostrich are releasing a new album next year on Feb. 25 called Cosmos and today we're premiering the first single off of the project called "Shades." Singer and guitarist Alex Schaaf, who started Yellow Ostrich as a solo project, and drummer Michael Tapper recruited bassist Zach Rose and keyboardist/guitarist Jared Van Fleet to help them create the new project.

Pairing fervent guitar riffs with more ethereal productions, Yellow Ostrich took inspiration from isolation—and Schaaf studying astronomers— on Cosmos. The album itself is named after Carl Sagan's 1980 PBS Series, too. Stream the stunning first single, "Shades," below:
