Yeasayer, who are you these days? Your gradual transformation from astral world musos into Brooklyn's answer to Soft Cell has been one of the more peculiar of recent years, almost as if The Horrors had gone krautrock, or Joy Division had ditched the singer and gone dance. I liked it when you were wearing the buffalo waistcoats. You knew where you stood with a man in a buffalo waistcoat. Nowadays, you're on some sci-fi planet where the Escape From New York soundtrack is on constant rotation at Club Tropicana: utopia gone dystopia, a messy, intoxicating fugg of black leather bodysuits and pink cocktail umbrellas.
