We're Screening 'American Hardcore' in NYC This Weekend, and We Want You to Win Tickets

Our "Music Driven" series, in collaboration with Nitehawk Cinema, continues with this punky brunch, and we've got some tickets we'd like you to win.

"Hardcore punk" and "brunch" are words that are rarely used in the same sentence, because brunchers are looking to sooth their hangovers with biscuits and gravy, and hardcore people are looking to destroy the system from the inside out with a DIY ethos and eardrum-rupturing music. This weekend, we're teaming up with Nitehawk Cinema in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, to shatter the division between these concepts with a screening of American Hardcore, as part of our continuing "Music Driven" series.

American Hardcore is based on a book of the same name, and it documents the birth and growth of hardcore punk through archival footage and interviews with some of its heaviest hitters: Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Black Flag, and D.O.A. are all featured. In addition to the screening, we'll be hosting Q&As with filmmaker Paul Rachman on Saturday and writer Steven Blush on Sunday.

If you don't feel like supporting the scene, that's fine, suit. We're giving away two pairs of tickets that you can win by . Then your computer or phone will magically send us an email saying you'd like to win tickets—just let us know which day you'd like to attend.

American Hardcore is playing at Nitehawk on Saturday, July 13, and Sunday, July 14. Both screenings are at noon, and you can buy them right here. Nitehawk Cinema is located at 136 Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg.
