Dance and Mope the Night Away to Weeknight's Video for "The Dust"

Also beware of barbers.

Weeknight is a dark-synth duo out of New York City that play music that's brooding, sensual, and infectious. Their new video for "In The Dust" shows what they were able to do on their previous LP Post-Everything, except maximized. The duo manages to extract the elements of 80s goth and new-wave, and re-appropriate them in a context that isn't reliant on nostalgia. Both members of the group sing over and through each other, their voices complimenting each other and becoming as atmospheric as the rest of the song. Drum-fills that would be found on some neon-strewn dancefloor in Miami become the foundation for melody and substance; a rising action that converges into a peak of emotion and feeling in the gaze of older forms of synthesizer. And yet, it's really fucking danceable.
