Wax Idols don't like bad music journalists. Wax Idols don't like unprofessionalism. Wax Idols don't like doing interviews twice. These are all lessons I learned the other night when I interviewed them at Treefort Music Festival, and barely remembered the next morning. Hether Fortune, Jen Mundy, Amy Rosenoff, Rachel Travers, and I (apparently) discussed the inherent value in a fresh strawberry rhubarb pie, though

Noisey: What was the best aspect of growing up in Michigan, Hether?
Hether Fortune: It sucked. Although, the isolation was probably for the best. It gave me a great work ethic.
Jen Mundy: I grew up in suburbia, and it made me want to do more with my life. I didn't feel like I ever fit in, I didn't want to do the "marriage and kids" thing. It forced me to get out of there, and do something meaningful.
Amy Rosenoff: I grew up in a suburban town with a refinery that probably shortened my life by about 10 years. I'm pretty stoked about that.
Rachel Travers: I grew up in a small town in Virginia, which was a very conservative area. It really pushed me to get out and do something else.

If you had to get personalized license plates on your car what would they say?
Hether: FUCKYOU.
Jen: BLUEMNDY.
Rachel: SUCKIT.

As a band, what are you most against?
Hether: This.
Rachel: Bad Interviews.
Hether: People who can't get their shit together and do their jobs right… We don't like shitty music writers. And I'd say we are against most indie rock.

Can you detail the perfect girls' night out?
Strawberry rhubarb pie. It's waiting in the hotel room. Talk shit about people, berate people.

How long would you survive lost in the wilderness?
I could probably do it forever. If I could find food and stay warm, I'd be in to it.
Jen: I like solitude, if I had a nice little cabin…

Well, you'd have to build it…
I'm really good at building IKEA furniture.
Rachel: I just have one line to say: "They drew first blood." I'd be exactly like John Rambo.

What's the best advice you've ever received or given?
Hether: It was recent. I saw it in a tweet by Damien Echols. "Throughout our lives, people label us, telling us what we can and can't be. You can pull those labels off and stick your own label on."

What's one of your childhood fears?
Clowns. Even though I look one now. That's how I overcame my fear of clowns.
Jen: I was really shy…

Is that a fear?
Afraid of people. Everything. Scared…in general.
Rachel: Failure.
Amy: Snakes.
Rachel: I told her to respect the serpent, but she won't.

Can you recite the Idaho state motto for us?
Hether: "We have potatoes. That's about it…"
