While the majority of Nathan Williams' (of Wavves) back catalog sounds like it was recorded at the bottom of the ocean, mixed up in a blender with weed and pharmaceuticals, and spat out through the mouth of a zoned-out, bratty teen, his new track "Hippies Is Punks" evokes the sound of the slacker-pants 90s.
It's not clear whether Williams had a tripped-out encounter with Billie Joe Armstrong, but all evidence would suggest that he's channeling the Dookie-era spirit of the Green Day frontman by way of melodic, angst driven choruses, mixed in with colored-album-era Weezer (blue and green only).
