Watch Carcass Play "Corporal Jigsore Quandary" in a Small Room in One of the Biggest Cities

Drool everywhere

A truly triumphant, to-the-core-of-a-band's-essence reunion is damn near impossible; Age, interest and influence take their toll. What's even more impossible? Making that magic happen away from overdubs, studio sorcery and click-tracks, and in the flesh. Legendary death metal/grindcore pioneers Carcass did just that last night (9/26/13) in Brooklyn, NY at Saint Vitus.

The occasion was a short tour in celebration of the band's new LP Surgical Steel, an unmitigated triumph and a return to the sound that blazed trails twenty-plus years ago. The current set of dates are clearly meant to tease, centered around smaller clubs, some close to a tenth of what Carcass could probably do considering their stature as a festival headliner. Saint Vitus in Brooklyn is usually reserved for shows of a couple hundred folks, making it one of the smallest shows on the tour. In NEW YORK CITY. NBD.
