2014 was a rough year for metal—we lost a lot of great talents, and saw more and more of the old guard drop off or throw in the towel completely. It cut especially deeply knowing that we'll never see Brutal Truth again; bidding farewell to Kevin Sharp's cowboy hat has been a difficult process for those of us who have loved the band since they formed as a manic grindcore force back in 1990. You've got to respect their decision to stay home and focus on hanging out with their families and exploring new musical outlets (like Kevin's beastly project Primate, or bassist Dan Lilker's litany of extreme metal bands), but goddamn, does it still sting!Luckily, as a New Year's treat, Sony's Most Valid Reason has just handed over some killer, pro-shot live footage of the songs "Birth of Ignorance” and “Stench of Prophet." They were filmed with a team of six cameras and multiple angles at the iconic band's final Japanese show—you can practically smell the sweat dripping off them. Relive the mayhem and magic of Brutal Truth one last time (though of course, no one's stopping you from watching it over, and over, and over…)
