Darkness Descends in a "Sunless Deluge" From Finnish Funeral Doom Masters Tyranny

Finnish funeral doom asserts its dominance once again on Tyranny's upcoming new album, 'Aeons in Tectonic Interment.'

After years of spreading their talents around with other bands—Profetus, Wormphlegm, Corpsessed—the Finnish duo behind one of funeral doom's finest have come together on a new full-length. It's been a decade since Matti Mäkelä and Lauri Lindqvist released an album under the Tyranny name, and its imminent release marks a welcome return. Aeons in Tectonic Interment is an imperious, ambitious listen; the "death" aspect of their corroded death/doom takes the reins, allowing the doomier tempo and atmosphere to decay around it.

Its graceless, lumbering pace is almost unbearably slow, adding to the tension that hangs between the ringing notes and the pregnant pauses before each drawn-out roars erupts. The opening track, "Sunless Deluge," perfectly captures the darkness and misery that permeates Tyranny's ouevre, and it's an honor to premiere it here today.

Preorder Aeons in Tectonic Interment from Dark Descent on double vinyl or CD now, and get lost within the craggy walls of its labyrinthine opening salvo below.
