Here's Rock 'n' Roll's New Diamond in the Muff: Thunderpussy - "Welcome to the Disco"

Like 'Octopussy' meets 'Boogie Nights.'

Head's up people! Thunderpussy rule. They're a shit-kicking quartet based in Seattle—all leather and licks and plenty of 'tude—and they're comprised of Molly Sides, Whitney Petty (Deerhunter), Leah Julius (Cumulus, Sundries), and Lena Simon (La Luz, Kairos). As the girls put it: "Get ready for rock 'n' roll's new diamond in the muff."

Thus far they've put up a bunch of tunes on soundcloud which hinge on gnarly, distorted riffs and vocals that are feminine, sexy, and ballsy as hell.

Below is the premiere of their first ever video for their song "Welcome to the Disco." It looks like a one-shot psych-trip to a weird world—like Fear and Loathing set at Studio 54—or as the girls call it: "Octopussy meets Boogie Nights."

Please take a moment to appreciate those thigh-high socks, spray on pants, and booty shorts. Hats off to whoever styled this video. After watching it I immediately placed an order for a gold sparkly motorcyle helmet so I can be safe and bling on my bicycle. Thanks guys!

The best bit is definitely the drum breakdown leading into the finale segment. It kicks off a choreographed dance sequence which includes singer Molly in a black fringed dress (shimmy girl!) having a dance off-cum-quarrel with another lady before she leaps onstage and really shows us what she's made of. (FYI these moves were dreamed up by Sides and she calls these moves the Pussyfoot.)

"You ain't got no hands / So use your hips…" Sound advice. Watch the whole thing below.

Designed and directed by Cheryl Ediss and Sam Kelly Jr. with choreography by Molly Sides.
