The Penelopes' Remix of Say Lou Lou X Lindstrøm's "Games For Girls" Sounds Tight

French duo give the Aussie-Swedish twins' collaboration with Norway's Lindstrøm a sweet rework. Plot that on a map.

Here are several facts about French duo The Penelopes:

  • From the band name you might imagine The Penelopes are a troupe of girls. Nope. They are two boys called Axel Basquiat and Vincent T.
  • They used to live in Paris but have recently relocated to London, which makes sense because they love English bands from the 80s and 90s (think New Order, Slowdive, Cocteau Twins).
  • They're not afraid to wear white in dusty environments. #boldmove
  • They write synth-boppy, psych-poppy indie and Axel doesn't even try to disguise his French-accented singing voice, a move which we applaud.
  • They wrote a couple songs for a recent film, Misunderstood, by actress and filmmaker Asia Argento which features Charlotte Gainsbourg.
  • They love to get their remix on and have recently been diddling everyone from Lana to Bowie to Alt-J.

All of which brings us to their makeover of Say Lou Lou: our number one identical twin pop duo crush. (Wait, are there any other identical twins making sweet pop music these days?) Say Lou Lou's collaboration with Norwegian electronicist Lindstrøm is super fine, clean, and cute. And the video is next level too: playful and fun and an excellent instructional in how to wear high-waisted denim. Watch it below, but before you do, please play this zippy remix of "Games for Girls" by The Penelopes (above) which beefs up the beat, and puts a electro-Parisian spin on things. What a wonderfully international musical union.

Kim Taylor Bennett has a fine collection of high waisted pants which she will wear to the office every day of this week. She's on Twitter.
