The Newtown Sessions - Mister Lies

Electronic musician Nick Zanka began making ambient music under the moniker of Mister Lies while studying philosophy and writing in Chicago. But as he points out, it was only after seeing Disney's animated film Fantasia that he recognized his dream of creating a new kind of art, with music as the vehicle.

In the last year he's dropped several massive tracks, including "False Astronomy," "Dionysian," and "I Walk" all on the innovative label Lefse Records,who has released albums by How to Dress Well, Neon Indian, Youth Lagoon, and Keepaway. As a DJ, Mister Lies is noticeably cohesive over the course of his work which sparkles at times against dangling trip-hop beats.

We were fortunate to have Mister Lies lay down some of his deft wizardry in this recent Newtown Session. Watch as he performs the stand out track "Cleam," and be sure to check out the interview with Zanca after the performance.
