For those who still pine after seminal 90s band Braid (and judging from how quickly their run of recent reunion shows sold out this year, that’s a lot of you), get acquainted with The City on Film, the side project of frontman Bob Nanna. Nanna is releasing La Vella, a full album under the moniker next week. It takes some of the familiar elements that fans of his work will recognize and tosses in a full bag of new tricks. But lest you think this is another in a long lineage of stripped down solo projects consisting of nothing but a dude with an acoustic guitar, it’s not. Sure, some songs like “Stray” satisfy your need for the minimal acoustic jams. But others like “Kill It!” explode with a full band sound.

La Vella is out on December 16 via Topshelf Records and you can order it right here. Nanna is also hitting the road with Gates and Young Statues. Dates for that below.
