The Barenaked Ladies Don't Like Canadian Music

Everybody knows that liking Canadian music isn't a very patriotic thing to do.

Are you tired of using your earholes to see whether or not something sounds good? Then it’s time to see what some real tastemakers think of today’s hits, as Tyler Stewart and Ed Robertson of Barenaked Ladies played “Jam Or Not Jam,” a video in which they used their trained musical tastes to decide whether a song is worthy of being called a “jam” or not. Despite having made careers out of an insularly Canadian following, DJ Tyler and MC Ed were surprisingly unpatriotic with their opinions.

While offering praise to south of the border acts such as Macklemore, Miley and The Beastie Boys, the Canadian legends threw some serious shade on

Alanis Morisette

and

Carly Rae Jepsen

. Just in time for Jagged Little Pill’s twentieth birthday, the bandmates mocked Alanis’ vocal style and declared “All I Really Want” to be not a jam. Additionally, MC Robertson insisted that Tom Hanks was the most memorable thing about Carly Rae’s “I Really Like You” and said as far as it being a jam, he “wouldn’t even call it, maybe.” Harsh Canadian shade, guys.
