The Melbourne-based musician and artist recently showed off her alter ego "DJ Susan" on August's Secretly Susan LP, wearing a blonde wig and colorful makeup and revealing an 80s-infused electropop side. In real life, she believes in balance: she’s health conscious, avant garde, and centered. From her love of tai chi to her love of a vibrant stage outfit, Sui Zhen likes to embrace all sides of herself. She found solace in bathing after a traumatic breakup, something that has stuck with her since having a fresh towel is important to her on the road. You never know when you might come across a bath (or body of water) you want to jump in."Sporting attire so you can keep fit whilst on the road. You might want to do some tai chi to keep focused and calm for instance. It’s good when you have an on the road identity crisis. It gives you a sense of purpose.""Something bright and colourful so you would stand out in a field (pictured). If you aren’t feeling so bright or colourful, you can default to a sporty outfit. It's a 'looks like you’re ready for anything vibe.'""The shoe of the ninja for when you need to be quick on your feet, like a Kung Fu master. They’re ideal for those toilet stops where you just need to run in and run out.""Most of this meal can be achieved on the road. Boiled eggs, fruits, cured meats, crackers, cheese, and a banana smoothie. You have to eat well to play well.""Stage prop or rare snack? You decide.""These look a little like maggi noodles. I wear them on stage, and they get people talking. Are they maggi noodles? Or Justin Timberlake’s hair?""Always bring a fresh towel. If you happen to pass a public sento, you can soak up some mineral bath to ensure you’re refreshed for your next show.""Now you’re fully prepared. You can take time to stop and smell the roses."Follow Ilana on Twitter and purchase Sui Zhen's Secretly Susan here.
