Listen to The Jungle Giants' Just Strange Enough New LP 'Speakerzoid'

The Aussies return with their second album and sound like Phoenix and Beck doing their best approximation of Metronomy covering Gorillaz. How very wonderful.

Ever heard of 'em? If not then consider this your introduction to the Brisbane quartet, The Jungle Giants, who became fast friends in high school and have subsequently released one album, 2013's Learn to Exist. Now they're back with this sophmore effort, the louche, psych-toned pop collection Speakerzoid, which you can stream in full below. There are some truly splendid moments on here, like the Bowie-meets-Pavement slice of lo-fi-pop "What Do You Think." Elsewhere "Creepy Cool" is Phoenix and Beck doing their best approximation of Metronomy covering Gorillaz. Confused? Just listen. As references go, these guys are killing it.

"We can’t wait to get in the U.S. of A again and play some shows," enthused the band. "Last time we were in the States we took down a whole fraternity at ping pong. Any new challengers are welcome, but be warned we have been in some serious training. To help prepare you for the battle, Noisey have some ping pong training beats for you all. Taken from our album Speakerzoid. The whole album. In full. Pre release. Only on Noisey.”

Thanks for the plug guys. Now here's yours: Speakerzoid is out on 10.2 via Amplifire Music/Kobalt Label Services,
