Summer Is Coming and So Is Sick Sad World's 'Fear and Lies' - Stream the Full Album Now

"Go directly to hell, and do not collect 200 dollars! The game of real life, next on Sick Sad World." Thus begins one of the many offbeat one-line cuts from Daria's Sick, Sad World, the show-within-a-show whose random interjections wryly summed up the apathy-laden ethos of Generation X.

Fast forward almost two decades to Olympia skateboarder and pop music prophet Jake Jones's new project of the same name: Sick Sad World. Jones played every instrument on the album smashing hundreds of tracks together to capture the sound in his head before recruiting friends Curran Foster on guitar, Gordon Baker on bass, and Leena Joshi on drums to form a full band.

Their debut album Fear And Lies brings energy (or lack thereof) to a new generation of heartbroken summer enthusiasts. "Are there dogs in the dumpster? Or have rats learned to bark?" begins another segment of Daria's "Sick, Sad World." The same question might be heard on any New York street as we're threatened with another sticky summer.
