Savage Master's Speed Metal Kills on "Vengeance Is Steel"

One of America's best new heavy metal bands has just come screaming outta Louisville, Kentucky.

The first time I heard Savage Master, it was by chance; they were opening for heavy metal heroes Christian Mistress and High Spirits at Brooklyn's Saint Vitus Bar, and for once, I'd actually showed up early enough to catch the openers. Thank Satan the G train was running on time that night, too, because the performance I walked into just about blew my head clean off. Hailing from Louisville, Kentucky and formed just over three years ago, Savage Master robs the heavy metal graves of the 80s, resurrecting the old ways of leather, chains, spikes, and pure speed—as their sophomore LP and High Roller debut, With Whips and Chains, makes quite fucking clear.

Wreathed in executioners' hoods, chains, and black spandex, Savage Master obviously slays live, but they're just as, well, savage on record. I'm delighted to be sharing a new track off their new album here today, because heavy metal is the best and this band fucking ruuuuuulllllleeeeessssss. As vocalist Stacey Savage comments, "One of the first songs penned for With Whips And Chains, "Vengeance is Steel" is about bringing to light the deeds of those who have done wrong—an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth."

Listen to the battle-ready banger below, and order With Whips And Chains from High Roller Records on April 22.
