Sadie Dupuis of Speedy Ortiz Made a New Christmas Song Called "krampus (in love)"

"All I want is solitude. Gift me reprise from you and you."

Contrary to popular belief, the happier a Christmas song is, the more obnoxious it tends to be when you hear it over and over and over again at Christmas. Quite frankly, fuck "Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time." Paul McCartney can shove it. That song sucks.

Fortunately, Sadie Dupuis, of the band Speedy Ortiz, who you may remember for being one of our Artists of the Year, has an alternate take on Christmas music: "all I want is solitude. Gift me reprise from you and you," she sings on "krampus (in love)," a new demo she released on Soundcloud in honor of the holidays. There are also some lyrics about a supervillain and a tag about Jessica Jones, so that's probably another interpretation of it, but I haven't seen that show, so I couldn't tell you. What I can tell you is that this is the right kind of bummed-out carol. Sorry Frosty the Snowman.

Dupuis pointed out on Twitter that these songs are a bit of a Christmas tradition for her and shared links to two older ones as well. Check all three songs out below, and Merry Sad Christmas!
