Ryan Adams Wants to Produce a Creed Album

Are You Ready?

Ryan Adams' Twitter is a lovely place where you can find knowing comic, video game and music fan service in addition to the expected updates on Adams' professional comings and goings. This weekend, though, he's using it to petition the heavenly hosts to reunite Creed. "Dear Creed," he says "If you ever get back together, please God (no pun) lemme produce that record & make it so heavy & weird." This seems improbable for a number of reasons, least of which being the Lord is a confirmed music nerd whose house band is made up of John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Jack Bruce, Keith Moon, and Clarence Clemmons. The Lord is too busy officiating 2pac/Biggie freestyle battles to lend an ear to any of this, but there's other reasons it ain't going down.

Scott Stapp is thankfully working to move past his struggles with addiction, but musically he is washed. This is the latest single from Scott Stapp's last album. It sounds like zombie U2. He threatens to "take you from your nightmares and put you inside your dreams." Who at this point wants Scott Stapp putting anything inside them or their dreams? Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti says he's barely spoken to Stapp since the band's last shows a few years back. When he's not playing guitar in the Creed-minus-one spite act Alter Bridge, he's the leader of Tremonti, who seem intent on washing Stapp out of Mark's hair one thrashy alt-metal cut at a time. It seems over.

If you're calling bullshit on Adams' skills and intentions, note that he nearly transformed Fall Out Boy into a hardcore band on their quietly released Pax Am Days EP and peruse this 2014 interview with Jenny Lewis where she describes dropping into Pax Am during the creation of The Voyager and getting blasted with half a Creed album on the studio's formidable stereo system to prep for recording. Pax Am is magic. Check Ryan's Neverending Story-referencing Creed prayers below.
