Royal-T VS N.E.R.D: "Trapdance" Noisey Exclusive

Butterz rising star, Royal T, remixes N.E.R.D ahead of his album release.

Baby-faced DJ and producer, Royal-T, originally made a name for himself putting out instrumentals for grime label Butterz. But I've always kinda rated him for mastering two-step, especially following the slew of releases this year, including a surprisingly good reworking of Cheryl Cole's "Call My Name", transforming it from shit to garage-gold.

Here he bootlegs N.E.R.D’s x-rated "Lapdance" in this kind of trap versus grime, chopped and screwed interpretation, which slows down the original into a bubbling bass-clap. The final product is more UK pirate radio's glory days, rather than, y'know, throwing Benjamins onto high-gloss titties in da club.

Royal's now joining the ranks of Roska and Katy B, with a release via the mecca of Brit club music, Rinse, with Rinse Presents: Royal-T dropping September 3rd.
