Refused Just Dropped Something Poppy and Weird with "Françafrique"

The shape of punk to come might be poppier than you think.

By now you should know Refused isn't fucking dead. After a quick reunion to play some shows back in 2012, the group is finally out of reunion status and is back to making new music. On "Françafrique," singer Dennis Lyxzén belts out his classic gravelly yell, this time in a way more pop-oriented song structure than Refused has seen in the past. While it may be kind of weird for a Refused song in some parts, it's much more reflective of the band's larger history, like Lyxzén's experience in bands like The International Noise Conspiracy, and his collaborations with masked EDM menaces The Bloody Beatroots.
