COVER STORY: REFUSED: Pop Songs for the Revolution
In May, Refused let me, a dumb writer, hop on their bus for the West Coast run of shows on their US tour, which eventually became our cover story. It was sort of surreal, given that the punk legends once said that they’d never reunite nor would they talk to “stupid reporters.” But they were actually quite welcoming and agreeable, even when we forced a photoshoot upon the vocally anti-capitalist Swedes in the heart of capitalism, Las Vegas. We walked down Freemont Street in the late afternoon, snapping photos among the costumed weirdos trying to make an honest buck. A few people even recognized them on the street and asked for autographs. Eventually, the tour winded down on the East Coast and got a proper send off at a secret Brooklyn show. Adjö and tack, you crazy Swedes.
Here are the photos from our day in Vegas before we moved on to California. All photos by Chase Stevens.
