The Video for "Pain Goes Away" by REFS Is Very 'Lars-And-the-Real-Girl'-Creepy

Guys! Did you know too many one night stands will turn you into an empty shell…

What can we ascertain from this video? The prevailing message appears to be that one night stands provide a pleasure that's ultimately empty. You can keep fucking to feel alive but if the thread between one person and another isn't charged with more than base lust, then what you're left with is a transaction that'll leave you numb. And isn't the whole point that it should make you feel more alive?

New York duo REFS—made up of Richard Saunders and production guru Zachary Andrew—dropped their debut, "Pain Goes Away," a couple months back and it's already had a quarter of a million plays. It remains a very modern, sheenily downtempo R&B track hinging as much on Saunders' effortlessly soulful vocals (those runs will give you shivers), as the clipped boom and clack of the beat behind it. The video, premiering below, complements it perfectly.

Now the only thing we want is more: one song, one video, that's just not enough!

Buy "The Pain Goes Away." Go on.
