Listen to Prinze George's "Upswing" and Feel Forlorn But A-OK

Like Say Lou Lou holding hands with Odesza.

Prinze George are Kenny Grimm (production/instrumental), Naomi Almquist (vocals) and Isabelle De Leon (drums). They're from Maryland and they make synth-pop that's swoony ("Victor"—500,000 soundcloud spins!), that's lightly disco-dazzled ("This Time"), that's a little bit indie (the brilliant "Don't Speak to Me"). Even in their brightest moments, they sound a tad forlorn: "When life is good I'm looking down," sings Almquist.

So it is with new tune "Upswing," arguably their most upbeat kick yet. The synths might sparkle, but her lightly disconsolate tones are as pleasant as pouty pink lips.

It's like Say Lou Lou holding hand and looking at the stars with Odesza.

The trio play New York's Mercury Lounge on 2.10 and release their eponymous debut EP on 3.3. The tracklist is as follows.

1. Upswing

2. Victor

3. We Are Dreamers ft. Misun Wojcik

4. The Writer
