Listen to "Baltimore," Prince's Soulful Tribute to Freddie Gray and the People of Charm City

The Purple One has unveiled his pro-peace, pro-justice ode ahead of tomorrow's Rally 4 Peace concert.

According to the Purple One's Soundcloud page, "Baltimore" came to fruition when Prince was all alone in the studio one night; he took an existing demo, then played all the instruments on an entire new version of the song. He then had singer Eryn Allen Kane fly in to lay down additional vocals, and the result is a smooth, hopeful ode to Charm City and its people. He shouts out Michael Brown and Freddie Gray, and punctuates his support for the city's protestors with the stirring refrain "if there ain't no justice then there ain't no peace."

As Prince (or whomever runs his Soundcloud—we're really hoping it's him) added in the song description, "Please know that all involved in this project never take for granted the privileges we have in this country. Let's all continue to fight the good fight and confront inhumanity on every level until the day it is no longer."

He'll surely be playing the song tomorrow night at his Rally 4 Peace benefit show, which will take place at Baltimore’s Royal Farms Arena and stream live on Tidal.
