PREMIERE: The Blood Arm - "What Kind of Animal R U?"

The LA rabble rousers, who now loiter around Berlin like the brilliant troublemakers they are, return with this slinky video. "You can ride me like a horse..." Sweet.

Fuck yes! We've been following The Blood Arm since the quintet first captivated back in 2006 when they released their combustably brilliant second album Lie Love Lie, which boasted the cheeky rock stomp of "Suspicious Character" with its glorious refrain: "I like all the girls and all the girls like me!"

Since then they've upped sticks from LA and moved to the arty environs of Berlin where the beer is cheap and the ceilings are high and someone's always having a party. This month they release their fifth record, Kick ‘em in the Sunglasses—which serves as the soundtrack to the band’s manifesto: “Sex, Rock & Roll, Literature!” It's very much inspired by their time in the German city. Debaucherous! Decadent! Sexy! Dark!

Below is the premiere of the album's lead single and video, which finds keyboardist Dyan Valdes wresting the mic away from lead man Nathanial Fregoso to sing the slinky-ass stomp "What Kind of Animal R U?"

"Well you can ride me like a horse / Can you whip me like a mule / You can work me like an ox / I don't mind if you are cruel," she itones, flinty, cool. We're down for this kind of dominance for sure. In terms of the visuals, it's a Lynchian-inspired circular narrative that plays with the fable of Little Red Riding Hood, while reversing the roles of predator and prey. Directed by Tom Phillipson of Auto64.com, the video was shot in a still-functioning artist's squat. The art rock dream is alive in well Berlin. Danke schön.

Kick em in the Sunglasses is out now via Duchess Box Records.
