“I Suffered Through The Break-Up Of A 5 And Half Year Long Relationship And All I Got Was This Heartbreaking Video." That's what Greta Morgan, L.A. songbird of rising indie-pop act Springtime Carnivore had to say about the video for the single "Other Side of the Boundary," directed by her ex-boyfriend Eddie O'Keefe. Yes, break-ups are notoriously horrible, but if you can squeeze a piece of art like this out of it, maybe it was worth it.There are borders around every image," Morgan explains in regards to the video. "Boundaries around each person -- and we made them very prominent to represent the wall we all carry around ourselves, which only allows certain people to enter at certain times. The question I'm exploring is when and how can we reach the other side of those divides."The video for "Other Side of the Boundary" splits into moving screens of the same woman singing for help from inside of famous pop culture images. With nods to Bourdin and Bob Dylan, Morgan exists uncomfortably within the boundaries of other people's art, adressing how it feels to be stuffed into someone else's version of yourself. The slow-moving, acoustic song tries to make sense of it all as she strums for answers, taking cues from Jenny Lewis and Father John Misty, both of whom have enlisted Springtime Carnivore as their opening act.
