Premiere: Lost Film – "Still Youth"

Recalling Death Cab for Cutie, Rilo Kiley and even Yo La Tengo, Lost Film takes a nuanced approach to pop that's both hazily introspective and gripping.

Lost Film is the relatively new indie-pop project of Jimmy Hewitt, who used to make music as the delightful but now defunct outfit Orca Orca. Hewitt released his debut album as Lost Film this past summer and now we're premiering "Still Youth" from his forthcoming EP, Temporary.

Recalling aspects of early Death Cab for Cutie, Rilo Kiley and even Yo La Tengo, Lost Film takes a nuanced approach to pop that's both hazily introspective and gripping.

Jimmy says: "I wrote 'Still Youth' this past summer while listening to a lot of Ryan Adams. This is the one song that I wrote and rewrote over and over until I got a version that felt right. That's something I almost never do; I usually stick with the first version. It ended up kinda sounding like my favorite Funeral Advantage song which is funny because we almost worked together on one of the songs for the EP but never ended up happening. In the lyrics I describe the first time I heard Wilco's A Ghost Is Born while I was at a party in high school."
