PREMIERE: KYTES - "Inner Cinema"

You know when you walk around pretending you're in your own movie and the soundtrack is super sweet?

I'm a sucker for hit-you-over-the-head catchy indie-pop which is exactly the kind of music KYTES create: their debut tune, "Inner Cinema," sounds like Phoenix if they'd been raised in a small town on the English coastline. Zippy synths, uh-oh-oh refrains, and like a satisfying one night stand, it's in and out the door before you have time to get bored. Lyrically drummer Timothy Lush had this to say about it: "The songs title makes it clear that we all have our own film running in our heads, be it fiction or fantasy. It's the cinema inside our own head keeps us all pretty busy."

So true! Don't lie and say you've never walked the city streets with your headphones on pretending you're the star of your own movie (you are!) and the soundtrack is killer. (Recently my street-strutting soundtrack has been

Steely Dan's "Hey Nineteen,"

but on the regular I feel like it's the

Curb Your Enthusiasm

theme tune—which heralds awkward encounters round every corner.)
