Premiere: Joseph of Mercury Wants You to Remember His "LIPS"

The artist shot the video so he would never forget his good friend, but the finished product entertains as much as it commemorates.

Everyone deals with loss in their own way. When Joseph's good friend Dakota Kavanagh passed away, it felt like a member of the family had departed. It was Joseph's first real brush with death, and according to him he "wanted to make something, to work through the emotions we were in, walk away with something we could hold up and look at."

Shot on an iPhone in New York by Joachim Johnson, "LIPS" is the first official release by Joseph of Mercury, a Toronto-based solo artist whose debut EP is coming sometime this summer. "We decided to forgo the hunt for crew & camera, we used what was ubiquitous around us, the iPhone… our generations Super 8." Two days later Joseph boarded the plane to Toronto with something to hold up and look at with pride. Something that he could use to never forget his good friend, their video for "LIPS."
