Premiere: Jazz Cartier Takes His Sound to Worldly Heights for "I Know"

The exuberant rapper takes the Toronto sound to a new level with the help of Lantz.

Jazz Cartier has been on a journey around the world since his release of Marauding in Paradise back in April, touring the project around America, Canada, and Europe. His newest song "I Know" sounds like a collection of sonic souvenirs from his travels, blending downbeat electronic production from Lantz with melodic verses and breathy ad-libs thrown in for good measure.

Though the structure of the song is still very much hip-hop, the synths used throughout have traces of classic deep house. Cartier raps unhurried throughout, stating that he's "top five in the six side." The song follows in the footsteps of "Rose Quartz/Like, Crazy" off his debut project, and demonstrates Jazz's ability to balance his delivery between animalistic anthems like "New Religion" with more downtempo tracks like this one.
